Explore the history, culture, and artistry of Zuñi fetish carving during a special author talk with Dr. Harold Finkelstein at the Ruidoso Public Library.

Dr. Finkelstein will discuss his new publication, Releasing the Spirit: The Art of Zuñi Fetish Carvings, and explore the enduring legacy of this Native American art form, tracing its history from the early eras of Chaco Canyon to the present day.

A recognized authority on Zuñi fetish carvings, Dr. Finkelstein has more than four decades of hands-on experience as a direct buyer and itinerant trader, supplying galleries, stores, and museums across 35 states. Since 1993, he has conducted more than 150 fetish shows nationwide. He is also the author of the 1994 monograph Zuñi Fetish Carvings.
